Clonmellon has a new Race Track
Clonmellon, like so many other towns and villages the length and bredth of the country has succumbed to the scurge of the "Boy Racer", No street is safe from these speed merchants not even built up residential areas. The main street in Clonmellon is the new Mondello park for these budding race car drivers, it doesn't stop there though with speeders reported in both Carraig Mhor and Cluain Mhor. Their loud exhausts can be heard screaming up and down our streets at anytime day or night. Most of the boy racers are from outside Clonmellon with only a handful from the town. They are not just young thrillseekers either, two of them are the far side of 25 and one closer to 40! One local resident recently confronted one of the speeders but was verbally abused and threatened.
Delvin Gardai have been informed on numerous occasions but the speeders are usually gone by the time the Gardai arrive. A new EU directive which will try to tackle this noise pollution will be in place by July 2008, please read the complete atricle here >>>> It must be pointed out that most people have no problem with car enthusiasts modding their cars, the problem arises when cars are reved usually above 3000 RPM and driven at excessive speeds through residential housing estates. If the people responsible exercised restraint on the accelerator while driving through housing estates we would all get along. If you wish to report anything suspicous to the Gardai please phone Delvin station on 044-9664193 Content Copyright Clonmellon.com Latest Local News Your Advert here...
