“Athboy Stables Farmers Market was established following the success of Diarmuid Gavin’s Dirty Old Town RTE TV program. A former disused area in Athboy, Co. Meath was transformed into a shared space for use by the local community. Support was given by trades people and general public to regenerate this area. The space has been transformed from a neglected site into somewhere that can be enjoyed by the whole community. We have the background of the entrance to the old Stables, with the cut stone archway entrances. We have seating available through out.
The Farmers Market takes place each Sunday from 11 till 2, on the site adjoining the Kells/Navan Rd in Athboy. We have a good mix of local produce. It is managed by Padriag Staunton and committee
The Athboy Stables Farmers Market brings a social aspect. Old and new acquaintances meet each Sunday while discussing fruit and veg or fresh baked bread & cakes. Locally hand made jewellery, artisan foods & produce, flowers, hand made decorations. Sit or stay awhile, and enjoy the local musician’s and entertainers with their performances. The entrance is not on a main road, and is family friendly location. Parking is available adjoining the Stables site.
