There are several inexperienced young drivers driving reasonably high powered cars around Clonmellon during the evenings and weekends. Some of the drivers are knowingly breaking the law by driving unaccompanied on provisional licences....,
I know we all did it and I was no different, However I view things differently now especially as I am now a parent to 2 small children. One of these new roadusers has allready been noted driving straight through the zebra crossing while pedestrians were waiting to cross. I have a big issue with I and other seasoned motorists may have driven on provisional licences while waiting to pass their test but never did I disregard the law with respect to zebra crossings, roundabouts or traffic lights. This practice seems to be the new "norm".
It is not just the main roads either, I am sick to my back teeth with certain individuals using Cluain Mhor as a raceway. I am not concerned that these inexperienced drivers will kill themselves, I am concerned about the innocent life they may take in the event of an avoidable accident while flying around the place with little or no regard for other roadusers and especially pedestrians or the small children playing in the estates.
I encourage people with similar concerns to be pro-active and report dangerous driving offences to Delvin Gardai, it only takes a phonecall and it might save a life.
